About the project
The Exotic Poland Cycle Route is a project aiming to create a high quality cycling route along the eastern border of Poland with all necessary infrastructure (including segregated cycling paths or traffic calming in selected places, consistent signposting, train access, bike workshops etc.) and provide relevant information to interested tourists.
Even now the route, mostly following quiet rural roads, lined with fruit trees or flanked by forests full of berries, is a perfectly viable holiday option for a more experienced cyclists. If you are able to cope with occasional stretches of bad surface or busier roads - come and see where the EuroEmpire ends (since May 2004 the eastern border of Poland is also the eastern frontier of the European Union).
Exotic Poland includes Suwalszczyzna lake district, Bialowieski National Park (preserving the last pristine, primeval forests in Europe), picturesque valley of Bug (the border river between Poland, Belarus and Ukraine) and Roztocze hill range (the only place where you can see the geological difference between the Western and Eastern Europe). Because one picture says more than a thousand words, we would recommend taking a look at our photo gallery to get a better idea what to expect.
This website also offers:
- practical hints on cycling in Poland;
- route description and recommendations.
The site is still under construction, please check for updates often.
